"Chest Pains" - Growing Pains




  • The cause of chest pains can develop from many factors but the most dire are Heart Attack and Acute Myocardial Infarction.
  • If you experience chest pains for longer than 20 minutes or more there is high risk that you may suffer from Heart Attack or Acute Myocardial Infarction and should consult physician immediately.



        Usually when one complains about "chest pains" the first thought that comes to mind is often heart attack. But how many would realize that the cause of chest pain varies and what to look for in case of heart condition emergency. Sometimes we encounter 15 years old persons experiencing chest pains during exercise. Or someone may experience chest pains during emotion stress. Are these symptoms of heart attack? Is it an emergency? If we understand the characteristics of heart attacks we can be more certain in emergency situation.


Causes of Chest Pains


        There are many causes of chest pains. However, the most dire are Heart Attacks and Acute Myocardial Infarction. These conditions are severe and fetal. The conditions of Acute Myocardial Infarction is, as follows:

  • Chest pains as if something heavy is pressed upon the chest
  • Usually accompanied by shooting pains to shoulder, arms or jaws (on one side or both sides)
  • In some cases there might be a pressing sensation on the upper abdomen without history of heartburn
  • Physical exertion causes growing chest pains, such as, walking and only recovers when resting
  • Sweating
  • Nuaseau, dizziness, heart palpatation or fatigue during rest and unable to walk


        If suffer chest pains for longer than 20 minutes there is a high chance of Acute Myocardial Infarction, should consult physician immediately.


Other Indications of Chest Pains


  • Pneumothorax sufferers may experience chest pains but only on side predominently. This is usually accompanied by difficulty breathing. This condition should be diagnosed immediately because it may lead to respiratory failure.


  • GERD sufferers may experience heart burns around the upper abdomen in some cases the heart burn sensation can advance to the neck region. This usually happen after meal consumption or lying down and is not accompanied by fatigue. Some may feel better after walking around and usually get better after taking gastric medicine. This condition is not fetal. However, the symptoms are familiar to that of Heart Attacks, should consult physicians immediately.


  • โรคกระดูกซี่โครงอักเสบ (costochondritis) จะมีอาการเจ็บกลางอกค่อนไปทางซ้ายหรือขวาก็ได้ มักมีอาการเจ็บแบบแปลบๆ เกร็งๆ ฉับพลันที่ผนังหน้าอก บอกตำแหน่งที่เจ็บเป็นจุดๆ ได้ชัดเจน โดยอาการจะสัมพันธ์กับการเปลี่ยนท่าทาง บางรายอาจเจ็บมากจนไม่กล้าหายใจเข้าเพราะเมื่อหายใจเข้าแล้วจะเจ็บทุกครั้งตามการขยับของซี่โครง เมื่อพักอยู่นิ่งๆ สักพักแล้วอาการจะค่อยๆ ทุเลาไปเอง หากมีอาการเจ็บหน้าอกช่วงสั้นๆ น้อยกว่า 5นาทีแล้วดีขึ้นเอง ไม่จำเป็นต้องมาโรงพยาบาล แต่หากมีอาการเจ็บติดต่อกันนานเกินกว่า 20 นาที ควรมาพบแพทย์เพื่อช่วยยืนยันการวินิจฉัย


  • Pulmonary embolism sometimes called Economy class syndrome, because this condition usually present itself after a lengthy period of sitting without leg movement and accompanied by lack of water consumpttion. This causes the blood in the legs to thicken and enter the lung. The symprtoms are fatigue, difficulty breathing, chest pains. However, the symptoms does not include shooting pains to other parts of the body. In acute cases this condtion could lead to death.


  • Hyperventilation syndrome this condition occurs when hyperventilate, heavy breathing, which usually accompanies emotion state. The heavier one breaths the more abnormal the acid level occurs in the blood. This usually lead to chest pains, difficulty breathing, tenseness. The more patient breath, the worse it becomes. This is usually found in teenagers with emotional stress. Treatment usually involve relaxing patient in calm environment and slow down the breathing. Patients usually recovers in 5-10 minutes. However, if the patient does not recover, consult physician immediately.
